How to Measure

Waist
Button your pants if applicable and lay it flat. Measure along the center of the waistband from edge to edge, with the waist pulled flat but not stretched. Then, multiply this number by two.

Rise

Measure from the crotch seam straight up to the top of the front waistband.

Thigh

Measure straight across the leg about an inch down from the crotch. Then, multiply this number by two.

Knee

Measure 14" from the crotch seam. From there, measure straight across to get the knee measurement. Then, multiply this number by two.

Cuff (Leg Opening)
Measure from one side of the leg opening to the other. Then, multiply this number by two.

Waist

Wrap a measuring tape around the narrowest part of your waist, typically an inch above your belly button. The tape should be snug, but still sit comfortably around your waist.

There’s nothing quite like a well-worn pair of jeans, so we took a vintage pair from the TS archives—complete with some awesome fades and a soft, lived-in texture—and recreated it with burly black selvage denim that’s been washed to simulate one year of heavy wear. Like all of our gear, The Democratic Jean in Black 1-Year Wash Selvage is built with earth-friendly materials and rugged construction that’ll withstand many years of use.

We built this iteration of The Democratic Jean with 15.5-oz. organic cotton—just as soft and versatile as conventional cotton, but a heck of a lot easier on the environment. Fans of our previous jeans know what to expect here: a finely tuned Democratic fit, peerless construction, and a handful of details (including custom YKK hardware and our signature leather patch at the waistband) for extra impact. As the name suggests, these have been washed for a lived-in texture, and they’ll only get better with time.
