Length is measured from center back neck.

How to Measure

  • 1

    Chest

Button or zip up your jacket and lay it flat on a hard surface. Measure across the chest area of the jacket about an inch down from the underarm seam, and double that for the full chest measurement.

  • 2

    Shoulder

Measure straight across the back of the jacket, from one shoulder seam to the other.

  • 3

    Sleeve Length

Measure from the top of the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff. Next, measure from the center back of the neck seam to the shoulder seam. Add these two values to get your sleeve measurements.

  • 4

    Length

Measure straight down the back of the jacket, from the center of the neck seam to the bottom of the hem.

The Dalton may look familiar to military history buffs—it takes some of its cues from the British Royal Navy’s Mk. III Foul Weather Jacket, which emerged in the mid-1970s as a go-to for sailors who needed serious protection from the elements on deck. True to the original’s purpose (and its to-the-point name), The Dalton features a weather-resistant DWR finish, a snap storm front, and an adjustable two-piece hood complete with waxed draw cords to ensure a snug fit. We don’t care how severe the storm is—this thing is impenetrable.

To avoid waste, The Dalton’s DWR-coated organic cotton/nylon outer shell is built using deadstock material from an archival TS piece (The Garrison Jacket). Meanwhile, the torso is lined with a 5-oz cotton/polyester blend that’s both soft and durable. This two-layer structure helps trap warm air to maintain a consistent temperature regardless of external conditions. Check the specs for a full breakdown of The Dalton’s many awesome features—there are simply too many to list here.
