We stand in solidarity with Black Americans—and all people of color—to call on our industry, government, and national community, while also looking inward to address the systemic racism that exists in America and across the globe.

Social justice and environmentalism are undoubtedly interconnected. To be a responsible company means to focus not solely on ecological issues impacting the earth (which most disproportionately affect people of color), but also address problems impacting our communities. As part of our 5 Pillars of Responsibility, we specifically recognize that our people are core to our brand—our employees, the workers in our supply chain, our customers, the global community.

Over the past week, we have been deeply inspired by the work others have done to ensure the conversation surrounding racism in America emphasizes actionable change toward a more equitable future for people of color. Since then, we’ve donated to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, raised money for the American Civil Liberties Union & Campaign Zero in collaboration with photographer Jack Ludlam, and participated in #BlackoutTuesday to raise awareness and let others know we are committed to meet the challenge of this moment as a small, independent menswear brand.

However, we recognize that individual donations and social media posts will never be enough on their own. We don’t have all the answers, but we do know no single action can undo hundreds of years of inequality. That’s why we’re drawing the line and committing to the process of change. While it may not happen overnight, this journey is about taking everyday action, evaluating ourselves often, listening, and standing up for equality in America. Black communities have clearly spoken asking for solutions that affirm equal prosperity for Black lives. Progress requires collective action from all of us and it’s time that we start listening and responding.

To the Black community — We see you, we hear you. Black Lives Matter.

We encourage our supporters to join us in looking inward, listening, learning, sharing, acting and voting to put an end to racism.
