The Deadstock Capsule
Breathing New Life
Into Deadstock
Summer 2020
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: the clothing industry is appallingly wasteful. Conventional methods of agriculture and manufacturing require jaw-dropping amounts of water and energy resources, and that’s to say nothing of the culture of disposability that permeates the world of so-called “fast fashion”. We’ve worked hard to buck those trends by shifting towards top-to-bottom, seed-to-sew responsibility. Between making use of environmentally friendly materials (sometimes even developing our own) and dramatically restructuring our supply chain for greater efficiency and less waste, we’re exceedingly proud of the work we’ve done.
Today, we’re excited to announce the next pillar of our responsibility initiative: The Deadstock Capsule. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be unveiling a series of products that we’ve made using deadstock fabrics—sourced from factories all over the world—that otherwise would have either languished in a dim warehouse or been unceremoniously destroyed. Logistically, this was a bit of a hurdle, but it was 100% worth it. As we start adding pieces to the collection, we think you’ll agree.
