2017 - Mens - The Fall Maritime Collection
A Perfect Corner On The Bay
Behind a fence leading to a dirt lot, nestled between oil refineries and adjacent to track laid by Union Pacific, there's a small white building with fading blue trim. In its perfect corner on the bay, the San Pablo Yacht Club is a take on Bay Area sailing far from the luxury cruisers more readily found in proximity to McCovey Cove. A holdout and haven for those who maybe shouldn't have a boat but just can't help it; where Saturdays are spent sanding, rigging, and restoring, just so that you can sail all Sunday.
It's here in Richmond that we chose to photograph our latest Maritime Collection—on a 24-foot wooden gaff-rigged cutter. In the midst of a restoration, the sailboat is a project of passion and an outlet for obsession. A never-ending routine of teak refinishing, engine maintenance, and painting that all returns in dividends when the wind is blowing, and the land is left behind.
We created our latest Maritime Collection to work hard in all aspects of boatmanship. From pulling halyards to hanging the rail to whipping the end of the lines—a selection of garments fit to withstand one of our favorite pastimes from start to finish and everything in between. There is a rugged hemp chambray button-down shirt, a super warm alpaca sweater, a lambswool shirt jacket you won't ever let leave your side, a couple of beautifully crafted beeswaxed, weatherproof parkas (in classic slicker yellow, and a more subtle olive), as well as our take on the iconic peacoat. No matter how you choose to sail, these are the garments to get the job done out on the water.
