The Custom Club: Matt Galligan

Matt Galligan is the co-founder and CEO of a media company called Circa. Their focus is on providing headline news to people on-the-go and saving them time via their app on iOS and Android. He is also a loyal Taylor Stitch customer and friend. We met Matt in 2012 when he ordered a few custom shirts from us. About three months ago he worked with our suit tailor, Ryan Devens, for his first custom suit. Growing up in a small farm town called Williamsville in Central Illinois, Matt always had a bit of an entrepreneurial bug. He dropped out of college in order to pursue his dream full time; seven years later he has started three companies (Socialthing, SimpleGeo, and Circa), two of which were acquired. We asked him to impart his philosophy on clothing and he had a very profound answer:

"Dressing well does two things for me – adds to my self-confidence as well as makes me feel as if I might be showing respect to those around me. Some people think that a suit and tie would be constricting, but I find the opposite – I found that it's empowering. In most of the meetings that I'm in or other encounters, I do what I can to present my best self as a sign of respect for the other. It's no question that people notice."

We couldn't have said it better ourselves, Mr. Galligan.
