Weekly Playlist: New York Undercover

Between 94-97' I was obsessed with a show called “New York Undercover.” It was about these two undercover detectives in NY who would bust drug dealers and gangsters. What really made the show was how dipped the two cops were; rocking Nautica jackets, Tommy Hilfiger sweaters (back when Tommy Hill had street cred, he even put his product in arms-reach of boosters so that the streets would rep his brand), Polo everything and Northface Bubble Gooses. The music was so on point, they played the best East Coast underground hip-hop predating the Puff/Mase Shiny Suit Era. Grimey beats, and even grimier lyrics. Straight gully. These tracks throw me back to a golden time in my life, when the clothes were XXL and the music was legendary.
