Paper to Product: Edition 226

The ol' outfitters may not be sending newsprint catalogs out anymore but that doesn't mean real sturdy Portuguese flannel shirts aren't still being made.

Our Crater shirt is an homage to an era when flannel shirts were actually built for outdoorsmen. It's quite a bit heavier than what you might be used to seeing these days and that's what makes it warm and durable. Go figure.

For all of you brave enough to invest in a shirt this beefy there is a major surprise waiting for you on the inside: a double brushed layer of fabric that's softer than rabbit fur against the skin.

Knowing that shirts this comfortable have a way of getting worn almost everyday, we issued it in two subtle, handsome plaids that are sure to go with just about everything you own. Grab both and you'll have an every other day rotation all winter long. We took care of the little details as well, such as matching the plaid on the pockets. It's a whole lot easier to cut the plaid on a contrasting diagonal instead of matching it, but that's also the most blatant of corner cutting details that separates the master shirt makers from the boys. The shirt is finished with Japanese made Urea cats eye buttons that have a coveted vintage milky finish and near unbreakable quality.

When the winter rolls around, this soft and toasty flannel is great under a windproof shell for extended outdoor jaunts. Its also great over an oxford or henley for errands around town or into work in the morning. You'll never wish that it was lighter, only that it came in more colors. We are happy to re-blaze the trails of the outdoor legends who got their start making overbuilt products for an incredible price. We don't see our values changing anytime soon, but we also can't promise that these shirts will last forever either.
