Edition 190: The Waxed Wayfaring Jacket

Wayfaring isn't some slang for cruising around in Ray Ban sunglasses looking all styled out - it means to travel by foot. And not just A to B but to wander somewhere - to seriously ramble.

Really though, there is no comparable means of transportation when it comes to getting to know a place, be it a new city or a different side of the mountain. Walking allows one to enter into real intimacy with a place.

For those of us who have done a fair bit of travel by foot, we also know that walking can create a real sense of intimacy with the elements as well.

That understood - a sharp coat goes a long way, especially when you are traveling. It allows you to always look your best no matter what you have on underneath. It occupies incredibly valuable space in your bag. Most importantly, it needs to be suitable for sun, rain and wind. And it doesn't hurt if it also can serve as a blanket for lunch in the park or as a temporary tent for your less waterproof luggage.

So if this coat is lucky enough to find its way into your small adventure bag, we will surely be like some proud parents. We know it will serve you well and draw more than a few compliments on the way.
