Weekly Wordsmith: Samuel Beckett

Coming from the mind of a light heavyweight boxing champion at his Dublin school, Samuel Becket (1906-1989) had a way with words as well as his fists. This Irish avant-garde novelist, playwright, theatre director and poet offered up a bleak outlook on human nature. With his stern looks and cool and collected fashion Beckett refused the fame that was seeking him. In the end his thoughts and words wore the clothes of this prolific postmodern nobel prize winner.
