Edition 169: The Sausalito Stripe Tee
Sausalito is a tight maritime community where a diverse group of eccentrics, artists, sailors, inventors and CEO's have long cohabited in funky dwellings overlooking the bay. Ottis Redding wrote "Sitting On the Dock of the Bay" on a Sausalito houseboat. The famous ecologist and creator of the Whole Earth Catalog, Stewart Brand, has lived there on a tug boat since 1982.
These freethinking coastal types are exactly the people that have given the navy and white stripe the sartorial history that it currently carries. A variation on the original French sailor stripe, we strived to recreate this iconic piece in the spirit of California. Just as St. James is knitted and sewn in France, this tee is knitted and sewn in California. It is soft and lightweight - perfect for layering or on it’s own in the mid-day sun. And just as we prefer, it’s a bit more subtle and understated than it’s French counterpart. We designed it for everyday and built it for years to come.
The indigo oxford leisure shorts are back for round two as well. Pairing perfectly with the Sausalito stripe, this is an all weekend outfit to carry you right through the dog days of summer.
