It’s almost April and we’re feeling the summer vibes. This week in our Women’s Workshop we bring you the Dillon Sleeveless Button Down in a silk batik print and a washed cotton chambray. Both exude summer casual cool, whether you’re gathering for an afternoon bbq or coming home from a long day in the surf.
The airy silk is dip dyed in indigo and hand printed in India using the Batik method, a “resist” process in which the artist uses wax to prevent dye from penetrating the cloth, leaving “blank” areas in the dyed fabric. Batik is especially unique due to the way certain wax blends will “crackle” during handling, allowing lines of color to come through on resisted areas. The inconsistency and variability are unique attributes of the fabric and no two garments will be alike.
The European chambray is washed for an extra soft, worn-in feel, and left to look a bit distressed and undone. The perfect off duty staple, no iron necessary.
This easy, slightly tailored, shirt features a covered placket, bust darts and slightly elongated hem. Layer under a blazer for work and tuck into a flowy skirt for a night out. Your go to piece for summer layering.
